Approximately 1 ½ hours long, our guided museum tour offers an engaging glimpse into Cumberland’s unique history. The first phase of this tour focuses on exhibits that interpret various aspects of the community including emergency services, hospitals and health, schools, ethnic communities, and local businesses. The second phase focuses on coal mining and other local industries, and includes a walk through our famed replica coal mine!
OLD TOWNSITES WALKING TOUR:
Old Townsites Tour features Cumberland’s unique cultural histories. Visit the early settlement locations of Cumberland Chinatown and the Japanese town settlements located in the majestic forests of Cumberland. Tour meets at Jumbo’s cabin on Comox Lake Road. Allow for 2 hours.
MUSEUM AND WALKING TOUR:
Make a day of it! Join the Cumberland Museum and Archives for a museum tour, followed by a walking tour. Students can eat lunch at the picnic pavilions at the Old Chinatown site location, or in the museum. A 10% discount will be applied when booking both tours on the same day.
