The Cumberland history mural - shown here when it graced the inside of The Home Store - should soon be shown to the public again at the renovated and renamed Cumberland General Store.

Owner Wayne Procter has said he hopes to display the mural on an outside wall by the end of January. Famous mural artist Frank Lewis of Victoria painted the mural when he lived in Cumberland in 1984 and it has remained one of his favourites.

Lewis worked from a number of Cumberland Museum photographs to illustrate the history of Cumberland and its people.

The mural had to be taken down and put in storage when the grocery store was renovated and expanded.

About my painting

Great to hear from you, Paul. The painting is done in exterior latex paint and could, as long as the edgings were primed, be mounted outside. I love the way the painting has been photographed and restored. I can't see "Brownie" in the bar scene, though.

Is this mural painted using weatherproof paint, or coated with UV protectant? I wonder what the artist Frank Lewis would say.
