The Cumberland Museum and Archive is pleased to open applications through Young Canada Works for a ‘Public Programs Assistant’:

Job Site: Cumberland Museum and Archives

Duration: Twelve Weeks, 35 hours weekly, $12.65/hour

Start and End dates: May 22, 2018 – August 13, 2018

Language Requirements: Speak English, Read English

Other: Able to work weekends sometimes

 

NOTE: Candidate must be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; be registered in the YCW candidate inventory (www.young-canada-works.canada.ca); be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) while employed with YCW; have been a full-time student (as defined their educational institutions) in the semester preceding their job with YCW; and intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following their job with YCW.

Job description: The Museum Public Programs Assistant will assist the Cumberland Museum and Archives Engagement Coordinator with special event and public program coordination, member, volunteer, and school programs development, and guest services. The job includes event coordination assistance for commemorative events marking the 100th anniversary of the death of labour activist Albert ‘Ginger’ Goodwin.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position will be pursuing an education in museum education, public programming, or other related field. They should have basic-intermediate computer skills on a Microsoft system.
